Did you know you can extend the life of your water heater and increase its efficiency by draining sediment from the tank every six months or so? Sediment forces your unit to work harder. Draining sediment is easy. Just turn off the cold water inlet at the top of your tank; use a garden hose or buckets to divert the exiting water to a drain, then turn on the drain valve at the bottom of your tank. When you're done, just turn off the bottom drain and turn on the water inlet. Another economizer is installing a water heater blanket to help hold the heat in your tank. And just plain turning down your water heater thermostat can help, too. Extend the life of your water heater. Protect your investment.
