The Growth of Tankless Water Heaters Continues to Expand

Tankless Water Heaters Future Growth

Tankless water heaters have been around for years now, but their market share is finally growing to reflect the technology’s potential. While traditional water heaters have held onto their dominant place, the advantages of efficiency, smaller size, and environmental friendliness have allowed tankless models to gain ground. Moreover, according to researchers studying the trends in technology, those gains are only going to increase through the year 2020.

Tankless Water Heaters Future Growth

The Growth of The Tankless Heater

According to Business Wire, tankless water heaters are seeing popularity spikes all around the globe. In regions where electricity is cheaper than natural gas, for example, demand for electric, tankless heaters has been substantial over the past several years. Not only that, but the demand is predicted to increase. Which means the $13 billion value of the electric tankless heater market in 2015 is likely to increase substantially as more nations seek out the more efficient technology.

The need for electricity over natural gas is not the only deciding factor, though, as there are tankless heaters that use gas, or which are gas-electric hybrids. Even in countries where natural gas is common, like China, the other benefits of tankless heaters are giving them the edge over traditional water heaters. Because these devices are compact, and they do not need ventilation the way traditional systems do, they are ideal for big cities where cramped locations are the norm. That size and flexibility, combined with their energy efficiency and ability to provide on-demand hot water, means tankless heaters are growing more common everyday.

What Happens After 2020?

The report predicts that tankless water heaters will grow by roughly 9 percent until the year 2020. That does not mean demand for them will slip by that date; it just means the experts can only predict so far into the future. However, judging from the trends around the world toward cleaner, greener, more efficient technology, it is unlikely the demand for tankless water heaters is going to slump any time soon.

Does Your Nassau County Water Heater Installation Produce Brown Water?

Nassau County Water Heater Installation Brown Water

The problems with lead in the water in Flint, Michigan made headlines around the country. The contaminated water scare may cause you to look at your water a little more skeptically. If you live in Nassau County, Long Island, and you have ever noticed brown water coming from your tap, you are not the only one. Often, a Nassau County water heater installation is done without the knowledge how sediment can impact the installation.

Nassau County Water Heater Installation Brown Water

Officials from New York American Water went to great lengths to reassure customers that New York has some of the best water in the world. However, when demand is high, sediment is stirred up that can discolor the water. The discolored water is not dangerous; however, it is a problem that can be solved.

According to the Five Towns Herald article, “Treating the Five Towns’ Brown Water” by Jeff Bessen, sodium silicate in the water breaks down at temperatures above 120 degrees, and this can lead to brown water coming from the tap.

The article quoted Mayor Benjamin Weinstock, saying,

“We have two problems with the delivery system,” said Lawrence Mayor Martin Oliner. “The pipes are old and the iron makes the water brownish because it is not deionized.”

“I’m not aware than we have a problem worse than any other community, ” he said. “It was explained to me that the water has microscopic particles that leave brown stains. The solution is to install a filter on the hot water line, and a product such as Iron Out eliminates the stains. “

If you are interested in looking into Nassau County water heater installation, or you want to find out more about installing a filter to prevent iron build-up in your hot water, contact Waterheaters.com. A High Efficiency Water Heater Helps Solves Cramped Garage Issues

High Efficiency Water Heater Solves Cramped Garage Issues

We all know the expression, “they don’t make ’em like they used to.” When it comes to water heaters, that statement certainly applies, and that is a good thing. Modern high efficiency water heater models provide significant benefits and incredible value. Waterheaters.com has a comprehensive selection of residential and commercial water heaters and encourages you to replace your older unit with a new high efficiency water heater. The question is if I replace the old water heater with a new Energy Star water heater model, are the savings and other benefits going to be worth it? The answer to this is yes. But to help you understand why, let’s imagine the following scenario, “The Cramped Garage”.

High Efficiency Water Heater Solves Cramped Garage Issues

Most garages are in need of more space, and many times this is where the large bulky water heaters are located. This area in the garage is often taken up by a large, antiquated tank water heater weighing more than the hot tub. Imagine it is replaced with a small tankless gas or propane water heater snugly fitted on the wall. Space is increased, often by 90%, and soon new owners realize their energy bill went down by nearly 20%.

The garage is now uncluttered and the large tank gone, so more valuable space could be utilized. The risk of a faulty or even dangerous, outdated tank are removed as well, replaced with a modern water heater made to save energy and money.

This example could relate to many applications both residential and commercial. It is easy to see the benefits of having a modern high-efficiency water heater. We encourage you to contact waterheaters.com and get a quote on the model you are interested in. If you do not know what you need, we’ll be happy to consult with you and come up with an individual solution.

Want To Save Money? Learn How to Insulate Your Pipes With Pipe Wrap

Pipe Wrap Insulates Pipes Saves Money

If you are like many people, you turn on the hot water, only to wait several minutes for it to reach the faucet. Not only is this a waste of water, but it also costs you money each time. However, what can be done? One answer is to insulate your pipes with pipe wrap. You can then adjust your water heater accordingly and receive hot water quick and burn less energy. The best thing is, this is a relatively inexpensive, quick project that nearly any homeowner can accomplish on their own.

Measure Your Pipes

The first thing you need to do is to measure all the visible hot water pipes leading from your water heater. This will tell you the amount of pipe wrap you will need to cover them properly. It is also a good idea to measure the water heater inlet pipe so you can insulate them as well. You also need to measure the diameter of your pipes by wrapping a flexible tape measure around them.

Choose Your Pipe Wrap

Pipe wrap made with polyethylene or neoprene foam is commonly used for electric water heaters. If you have a gas water heater, it is recommended that you use a one-inch thick fiberglass pipe wrap. For electric water heater sleeves, you will need acrylic or duct tape, or cable ties to secure them. For gas water heaters, use aluminum foil tape or wires to secure the wrap.

Pipe Wrap Installation

It is a good idea to begin the installation by measuring out and cutting all of the pieces you will need to cover the pipes. Start with the pipe leading away from the water heater. The most vital space is the first three feet of pipe, so be sure to insulate this well. Install the foam or fiberglass with the opening facing downward. Secure the wrap by wrapping with tape, or wire, every one to two feet.

Adjust The Water Heater

Once your pipes are completely wrapped, you will notice that the hot water takes less time to travel to your faucets. You may also notice that the hot water you do get is warmer than normal. This is because it is traveling through insulated pipes, not losing heat along the way. That means you can lower the temperature of the water heater slightly, which will help to lower your energy bills.

According to the Richmond Region Energy Alliance, you’ll save an astonishing $2.50 a year for every foot of pipe that you insulate. That is certainly worth the effort it will take! If you would like more information about insulating your pipes, or anything related to your water heater, contact Waterheaters.com. One of our experts will be more than happy to answer any questions you have.

Increase Water Savings With a Water Heater Pump System

Water Heater Pump System Increases Water Savings at the Faucet

We have all experienced it when we turn on the hot water, the inevitable wait for the warm water to start flowing. Before the appearance of the coveted hot water, a significant amount of cold water is wasted flowing down the drain. Wouldn’t it be nice to have quicker hot water to your home or business’s fixtures? Having a circulating water heater pump system installed might just be the answer to your hot water dreams.

Water Heater Pump System Increases Water Savings at the Faucet

On a new construction home, installing feed and return lines quickly circulate domestic hot water to different areas of the home. Having what is known as a ‘hot loop’ close to plumbing fixtures provides quick hot water to the plumbing fixtures. In an existing home or business, installing specialized controls that work with both the hot and cold water lines to create the hot loop using your existing water heater help hot water flow quickly to fixtures.

A recent article featured a question about this exact situation.

Q: I am trying to reduce the amount of cold water going down my drains while waiting for hot water to reach the faucets and shower. Also, it would be nice to have quicker hot water to the fixtures like they have at many hotels. Can you please give me some information and opinions on residential water heater recirculating systems?

DENNIS, RHODE ISLAND

A: You’ve made a good observation that water is being wasted while you’re waiting for hot water.

Having a hot water recirculating system installed by a licensed master plumber may not only save you water, it can also be an added bathroom luxury. For new construction, water heater feed and return lines are installed that circulate domestic hot water to different areas of the home. Having this hot loop close to plumbing fixtures can provide quicker hot water.

For existing homes, special controls are available that may work with both the hot and cold water lines to create the loop using your present water heater. Just make sure your hot water recirculating system is professionally installed with any needed permits so you really don’t get yourself into hot water.

The benefits of installing a circulating water heater pump system are innumerable. Reducing water waste saves you money on your home utility water service bill. It can also contribute to reducing water waste in locations that are experiencing significant drought problems. You will also have shorter wait times for a hot shower each morning.

A water heater circulating pump system needs to be installed by a professional plumbing service. In some locations, permits are required to do the necessary plumbing work. We are happy to answer all of your questions. Contact Waterheaters.com today to learn more.
